Race On Bricks
Lego 2019 Speed Champions Series

The introduction of the new Lego Speed Champions series is something we look forward to each year, as it is simply a joy to see some of the best track-going cars translated into these little brick cars with smiling figurines.

The 2019 lineup is no exception –  with the limited edition McLaren Senna having been sold out before launch, the Lego Speed Champions model car allows many to pay tribute to the late legendary driver Ayrton Senna in a much more accessible way. Created especially for this set is a wind tunnel with a rotating fan, adding yet another layer to the storytelling. Up next is the Ferrari F40 Competizione set, 30 years after the race car’s debut. What’s more – the set features interchangeable hoods and spoilers for “backdating” the Competizione into a road-going F40. On top of all this, there are three extra sets of wheels for you to settle on your favourite specification.

When it comes to classics – there’s also the 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 MINI John Cooper Works Buggy set. In addition to the two cars and their respective drivers, the set comes with a fully equipped pit stop station and a couple of crew members on track.

The new Speed Champions lineup includes good ol’ American muscle cars too, with another “old & new” set. The1970 Dodge Charger R/T  and2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon set contains the cars with drivers, a start light, plus a track marshal. Last but not least, we have Lego’s interpretation of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – equipped with a fire extinguisher in case you needed further proof of its racing pedigree.

All sets will be available in the first quarter of 2019 – and the inner child in all of us can’t wait.
