Arc Vector all-electric motorcycle

British company Arc unveiled an innovative electric motorcycle concept that brings new practice and experience in bike riding. The company claims the Vector concept is the first motorbike with integrated multi-sensory Human Machine Interface. Founder Mark Truman formerly worked for Jaguar Land Rover and the project was first developed under Jaguar’s White Space division.

Arc has developed a heads-up display helmet and a tactile riding suit for completely the rider’s experience. The helmet is a collaboration with Hedon. It features an integrated projection heads-up display for speed and battery life of the motorbike. There is also a rear camera on the helmet. The riding suit was co-developed with Knox and it provides haptic feedbacks to keep the rider safe and aware. For example, the jacket “taps” the rider on the shoulder if there is a vehicle in his blind spot.

As for the motorcycle itself, Vector is built using carbon composite and carbon fibre and has a low weight of 220 kg. It is able to go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph, and  the 16.8 kWh Samsung-made battery will have a highway range of about 120 miles or an urban riding of 200 miles on a single charge. While a timeline has not been set, it is reported that the electric bike will be limited to 399 examples each priced at £90,000.
