Pop Art on the Streets
“East Meets West” by Ron English

Considered one of the most important pop artists today, Ron English’s prolific works range from street art in New York back in 1980s to the latest creations for his POPaganda world. Whether back then or now, English aims to destroy the boundaries between popular culture and fine art and has used over 1,000 billboards as his canvas for his prankish style. Many brands have been targeted for his mash-up art of high and low cultural touchstones, at the same time he is constantly creating original characters, with the obese fast-food mascot MC Supersized featured in the movie Supersize Me and the grinning skulls probably being the most recognised ones.

For the “East Meets West” exhibition tour, English brings the MC Supersized character infused with Asian elements and the streets of Hong Kong. The exhibition features an extensive collection of English’s back catalogues as well as new works created specially for this solo art exhibition, supported by a new range of merchandises and new figure releases.

The “East Meets West” exhibition runs in Hong Kong at The Qube, PMQ until May 14.
