Plan For The Future
Volkswagen partners with Google on quantum computing

Volkswagen Group and Google have announced their partnership in the world of quantum computing. The automaker aims to make progress in developing vehicle technologies in three specific areas using the Google quantum computer.

Firstly, the Volkswagen specialists are working on the further development of traffic optimisation. In addition to reducing travelling times, they would like to research and refine traffic management, including traffic guidance systems, available electric charging stations or vacant parking spaces. The second project will focus on optimising the structure of high-performance batteries for electric vehicles and other uses. The third area covers new machine learning processes, with the aim to develop advanced artificial intelligence systems for autonomous driving.

“We at Volkswagen want to be among the first to use quantum computing for corporate processes as soon as this technology is commercially available. Thanks to our cooperation with Google, we have taken a major step towards this goal,” said Martin Hofmann, Chief Information Officer of Volkswagen.

With technologies developed using quantum computers, it looks like the future of travelling can be safer, more efficient and effortless.
