When it comes to lighting, it’s hard to think of a brand more quintessentially British than Anglepoise. The company has been designing and manufacturing practical, energy-efficient lamps for more than 80 years, and its Original 1227 lamp is considered a British design classic. It’s only fitting, then, that Anglepoise has collaborated again with another national icon — designer Sir Paul Smith — to create the Type 75 Desk Lamp Paul Smith Edition Two. The lamp follows the colorful, summery Edition One from the pair’s previous partnership, and infuses the well-loved design classic with Sir Paul’s modern, vibrant touch.
In contrast with the sunny-hued Edition One, Edition Two evokes “the deep, rich hues of autumn,” combining deep slate and cool grey, with jewel-like colors and a bold accent of orange — a palette that’s bold and surprising, but still restrained and sophisticated in keeping with Smith’s signature aesthetic. The result is a lamp that injects new life into a timeless icon while showcasing two fine specimens of British design. Look for Paul Smith x Anglepoise Type 75 Edition Two to be available from September, ready for the start of the festive season.
