Owning A Piece of History
Bertone archives for auction

The world was saddened when Bertone went bankrupted a few years ago. The Italian coachbuilder had just over 100 years of rich history and legacy, and was the created of a long list of iconic cars. Some of the archives from Stile Bertone, the designing arm of the group, were offered in auction earlier this year, now auction house Aste Bolaffi is once again holding a Youngtimers & Memorabilia auction on classic vehicles on 17 November.

Among the 230 plus lots the items being auctioned do come in a huge variety. There are items used by the designers, such legendary designer Marcello Gandini’s old drawing board. Various vehicle parts, styling models and moulds showcasing the works of Bertone are also on the list. Then there are items that are full of sentimental value, such as the huge Bertone signage used to grace the facade of the facility at Grugliasco. Last but not least, prototypes and built production cars that are linked to Bertone are also included in the auction. The 1971 Alfa Romeo Montreal and 1980 Fiat X1/9 5 Speed are both nice illustration of Bertone’s ability from the pass decades. Even if you do no intend to buy a car at the moment, the full scale model of the Chevrolet Corvette Mantide Concept could well be a tribute to the this memorable company.
