Original Masterpiece
1965 Ford GT 40 Roadster Prototype

Ford’s GT40 snatched consistent victories from 1966 to 1969 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Prior to that, 12 prototypes were built in order to perfect the design. The example shown here was the eighth built and the first GT40 Roadster. While others have all been modified or destroyed, this is the only prototype that reminds in original condition and is now for sale.

As a test and development car, chassis GT/108 is built with a steel chassis and ran across different race tracks from Laguna Seca and Riverside to Sebring and Daytona, by top drivers Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. This was also the only GT40 that was driver by Formula 1 World Champion Jim Clark. While the other roadster prototypes have been fitted with roof panels at a later stage, chassis GT/108 still carries the 1965-style nose and low tail section.
