Maserati going EV with Alfieri

Another concept sports car is making a beeline towards electric motivation. It has recently been reported that Maserati will launch its first ever electric car by 2020, with the electric version of its Alfieri concept. Making its debut at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, the two-seater concept aims to pave the way for the continuation of Maserati’s racing legacy.

At a recent launch for the Levante SUV in the UK, the General Manager of Maserati North Europe, Peter Denton, told Just Auto that an electric version of the Alfieri has been planned. Petrol-powered versions will be released in 2019, while the fully electric version is planned for the year after.

Of the overall design of Alfieri, Denton had the following comments; “It is being designed as a competitor to the 911 but it will be a larger car. More the size of a Jaguar F-TYPE.” It is still at early days for the Alfieri EV, so as of yet there has been no official word on specifications or prices.
