Atari VCS

At the 2018 Game Developers Conference, classic game manufacturer Atari just released more information about the new console Ataribox. The name of the upcoming console has now been changed to Atari VCS, sharing the same name abbreviated for Atari Video Computer System when it was first launched in 1977 and before it was changed to Atari 2600 in 1982. The appearance of the upcoming console is pretty much the same as the version announced earlier during E3, which is based on the Atari 2600 with black veneer body, wooden front plate and a futuristic, illuminating white logo. Additionally, images of two versions of controllers have been released. The first one is a classic joystick controller similar to that of the Atari 2600, while the second one is in a contemporary style, similar to the Xbox controller.

Atari VCS will be equipped with AMD Radeon GPU and run on Linux operating system. In addition to gaming, it will also support other functions like video streaming, music playback, web browsing and running other apps. Not much information has been announced so far and we will have to wait for the pre-order stage in April for further details.
