Vibrato

The relationship between image and sound is difficult to explain. Sometimes when you hear a melody, an image naturally appears in the mind. The visual could be beautiful, bland, or peaceful, but sometimes it could be unintelligible.

Vibrato is a startup from the United States that specialises in providing custom art print services. Customers can simply upload their favourite sounds on Vibrato’s website and they will be transformed into art prints. As explained on their website, they play the sounds beneath a 8×8″ clear plastic sheet and use diluted ink for recording the sounds’ vibrato fingerprint. The vibrato is then scanned, enlarged, and turned into an art print for the customer. The team believes that “a memorable sound is more than 1s & 0s or bars”. The sound clip does not have to be a song or a musical piece, it could be anything. On the website they have shown examples made with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, a couple’s wedding vows and a child’s first words. As long as the sounds are meaningful to you, Vibrato can turn them into artworks, letting your favourite sounds decorating your home.
