Hoonigan recently introduced one of its 2022 projects and, in true Hoonigan fashion, it’s pretty wild. Shown here is Travis Pastrana’s newly finished Subaru GL gymkhana car, and this is one machine we’re very much looking forward to seeing in action later in the year.

The fully custom, carbon fibre-laden party car is based on a 1983 Subaru GL Wagon. Wearing an eye-catching livery, KMC wheels and Yokohama tyres, the wagon is extremely boxy and is very reminiscent of the Group B rally monsters of the 1980s. Very few finer details have emerged but we know the subaru will be pushing around 900 hp out to all four wheels.

Pastrana notes that “the car’s shorter wheelbase makes it more agile and the boxy body makes it easier for proximity driving”. The multisport athlete is hoping this custom-built beast will allow him to smash out some higher speed proximity drifts, as well as upping his slower speed technical driving, so that he could keep up with the bar of the Gymkhana Series set by Ken Block.
