Mazda Team Joest begins testing

The newly formed Mazda Team Joest has started picking up steam after its initial announcement back in July. The team will be competing in the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, with the debut race taking place at the 2018 Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.

The Mazda Team Joest R24-P Daytona Prototype was seen hitting the track in Hockenheimring last month, driven by Jonathan Bomarito and Tristan Nunez. It was built by Multimatic and underpinned by Riley, with the engine powered by AER. A shakedown test was then completed in Donington Park in the UK. The team is set to returning to their new US headquarters in the Atlanta area, where they will conduct US-based testing and prepare for the championship opener at Daytona.
