Red Bull Racing has teamed up with British artist Sam Cox, more well known as Mr Doodle, to turn the team’s 2018 Formula 1 challenger RB14 into a unique art piece for a charity auction supporting Wings for Life, the team’s official charity.
Mr Doodle is prolific with his unique style of detailed doodles, which he once described as “Obsessive-Compulsive Drawing”. His works are mostly in black and white, featuring a wide range of line art and fantastic characters, and appear on various medium from walls, clothing, to branded collaborations.
Preparing for the special one-of-a-kind livery, a show car version of RB14 was entirely painted in white, then covered in fun doodle hand drawn by the artist with black permanent ink, leaving just just a small area blank. The team’s F1 drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have also signed the rear-wing end plate alongside Mr Doodle’s signature.
The online auction has a starting bid of £100,000 and will end on 24th February. 65 per cent of the net proceeds of the sale will be donated to Wings for Life, a not-for-profit foundation for spinal cord research aiming to find a cure for spinal cord injury. Details of the auction can be found here.
