New Form Of Racing
Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow Concept

In 1937, Mercedes-Benz built a W 125 twelve-cylinder car based on the Grand Prix racing car, and it broke the speed record on public roads at 432.7 km/h. Over the weekend at Pebble Beach, the automaker brought us a futuristic concept based on this legendary model.

The Vision EQ Silver Arrow concept is powered by an electric powertrain that generates 550 kW (750 hp) and a 80 kWh battery pack offering 400 km range . As with all fully electric cars it is relatively quiet, so driver would be able to select the sound of a current Formula 1 Silver Arrow or a Mercedes-AMG V8 engine as soundtrack.

The single-seater has reflected the historical, streamlined silhouette of W125 on its forward looking carbon fibre body of 5.3-metre long. The cockpit can be folded forwards and lighting strips wrap around the front and the skirts. The interior carries on with the traditional yet innovative theme, with brown leather seat, aluminium panels and wooden floor paired with panoramic screen featuring 3D projection of the surroundings. Driver can also participate on virtual race against historic or present Silver Arrow racing cars and instructed by Virtual Race Coach for better performance. However, there is no word on when these fun elements would be incorporated into reality.
