New, But Old
Pirelli Collezione tyres for vintage cars

Many of our readers are avid vintage car collectors and would understand the necessity of keeping every part of a vintage car to the correct style and era. Modern tyres, while being safer and performing better, are too different to be fitted on a classic car. Luckily, Pirelli recently announced an extension to its Collezione tyre range for vintage cars, which means collectors will now have a much easier job when sourcing functional period-correct rubber.

The new Pirelli Collezione tyres all come in narrower and smaller sizes than modern equivalents so that they can best fit for cars hailing from 1950s to 1970s. The highlight would be the new size for Cinturato CA67 which fits the original 1957 Lancia Flaminia on its 60th anniversary. Other legendary machines that benefit from the new range include numerous Ferraris such as 250 GT range and Daytona, Aston Martin DB5, Mercedes 300SL ‘Gullwing’, Lamborghini Miura and even the VW Beetle.

High-performance nylon in a dual-ply carcass can be found on these new tyres for better grip in both wet and dry conditions, while appearance-wise they resemble tyres of the period as closely as possible with small details like the vintage sidewall lettering. So far, these tyres have been launched in the American market, with a wider release hopefully following soon.
