Everyone is aware of the importance of staying focused when driving, yet it is easy to get distracted when our phones are constantly beeping with notifications. According to research conducted by Motormännens Riksförbund from Sweden, people are 23 times more likely to crash if texting when driving. Volkswagen Stockholm has commissioned some phone cases made of metal from crashed cars in order to raise the awareness of the dangers of using mobile when driving.

153 handmade and unique iPhone 8 cases were created out of the crumpled metal from car wrecks, and the profits went to Trafikskadefonden for aiding rehabilitation of car crash victims. The number was selected because this is the number of crashes since the ban against phone use when driving in Sweden was implemented in February. Obviously even legislations are not sufficient to stop people choosing convenience over road safety. While these phone cases were sold out immediately, the meaningful campaign is still relevant and hopefully can register the message in people’s mind.
