Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti awarded Amelia Island Concours d’Sport

At this year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance that happened just over the weekend, a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti claimed the Best of Show awards in the Concours de Sport category. There are only four samples of the vehicle ever built.

Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti was built as a thrilling race car and never meant to be for the road. Featuring a 3.8-litre, V12 engine delivering 390 hp, the 335 S was able to sprint at 186 mph in full competition mode. This particular concours winner is full of racing history, with some of the most famous drivers having seated behind the wheel, including Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorne and Stirling Moss, in signifiant races such as Sebring, Le Mans and the Mille Miglia. During the 1957 Le Mans 24 Hours it set the fastest lap at an average of over 120 mph, Stirling Moss also won the 1958 Cuba Grand Prix with the 335 S.

Sharing the stage with the Ferrari 335 S at Amelia Island was the 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Autobahn-Kurier that took the Best of Show award in the Concours d’Elegance category.
