Reflex I 35mm SLR Camera

Similar to the history of vinyl records, when digital cameras fully took over the market, most proclaimed that the end of the film camera would not be far off. Yet years later, film cameras have not disappeared, and there is an ever-growing number of film loyalists. A team of photographers, designers and engineers recently launched the newly-developed Reflex I camera on Kickstarter. The modular 35 mm film camera is set to bring analogue photography into the 21st century.

Despite the nostalgic seventies look, the Reflex I is a new generation film camera with a modular concept composed of three elements: I-Plate, I-back and Reflex App. The I-Plate is an interchangeable mount plate for shooting with lenses from different manufacturers. An M42 mount comes as standard and users can purchase additional mounts for Canon FD, Nikon F, Olympus OM and Pentax PK. Similarly, the interchangeable I-Back module allows the option of pre-loading different films into an I-Back, so that photographers can easily change to a different film in the middle of the shoot. Lastly, the Reflex App incorporates digital technology into the analog camera. The camera will automatically log the settings of each film and each image and the record can then be viewed on the mobile app.

The Reflex I does not just act as a continuation of analog technology, but also goes some way towards bringing film cameras into the future.
