Modern Day Mystery
'Blvck Pyrvmid' by Studio Malka Architecture

According to ancient manuscripts, many believe that there should be one more pyramid made of black stone at the Giza Necropolis archeological site – one lost to history. There’s still an ongoing debate about this, but Stephane Malka of Studio Malka architecture has rebuilt the legendary Black Pyramid at its historical location.

Described as the 13th pyramid constructed on the Giza plateau, the Blvck Pyrvmid is a tribute to ancient architects Imhotep & Hemiounou and is built adhering to the golden ratio found on the Kheops pyramid nearby and in the nature. The pyramid is shaped as a Mastaba, which is the original form of the Step Pyramid in Ancient Egypt. Malka conceived it as a contemporary oasis, an agora for the plateau’s visitors to gather around. While the pyramid already looks pretty majestic, its construction is still an on-going project — ultimately sitting under a roof and adorned with granite in the most traditional way.
