Minimalist Images of Automotive Icons
Auto Icon Screen Prints by Jerome Daksiewicz

Growing up, I remember distinguishing cars by their unique design features — the distinctive grills of ‘90s BMWs for instance, or the rounded headlights of Jaguar XJ6s from the ‘80s. This idea of reducing automobiles to their essential characteristics immediately came to mind upon viewing Jerome Daksiewicz’s Auto Icon Screen Prints series — a collection of images that turns the front ends of famous cars into minimalist images representing the most iconic designs from several marques.

Daksiewicz — an architect/designer who produces 2D prints under his firm, Nomo Design, and is known largely for plan views of airport runways, golf courses and sports stadiums — started off depicting models from the likes of Ford, General Motors and BMW. With the initial success of the Kickstarter-funded series, however, he’s since added Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Toyota to the mix, with many more to come in the near future.
