Hasselblad H6D-400c MS

Hasselblad is probably the most renowned manufacturer for medium-format cameras and now, the Swedish brand is launching the new model H6D-400c MS, which can capture images at an astonishing 400 megapixels.

The H6D-400c MS features a 100 megapixel CMOS sensor with a physical size of 53.4 x 40 mm. To achieve the 400 megapixel resolution, the camera relies on Multi-Shot technology and captures four images with a sensor offset of one pixel each, followed by two exposures where the sensor is shifted by half a pixel horizontally and vertically. The six 100-megapixel individual image can later be combined to generate a single 400-megapixel image, coming in 23200 × 17400 pixels and 2.4 GB. The camera needs to be connected to a computer via USB and set on a tripod for the best result.

You can also shoot at ‘just’ 100 megapixels for something slightly more simple, either with or without the Multi-Shot function. Other features include video shooting in HD and UHD, a 3-inch touch screen display, CFast card and SD card slots, USB, HDMI, and audio inputs and Wi-Fi.

Clearly not everyone needs to shoot images with the level of details which you see experience here, but for true enthusiasts and for academic, historic or artistic purposes, this is a great tool to capture the details we can’t normally see.
