Live-Action 'Robotech' movie confirmed

Turning iconic Japanese manga or animation into live-action cinema is not an easy task. The recent Ghost in the Shell movie version has mixed reviews and die hard fans are hard to please. That doesn’t stop Hollywood studios trying though, as Sony is going ahead with the film Robotech.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Andy Muschietti, who directed the remake of Stephen King’s It and previously Mama in 2013, has been confirmed as the director. Other key personnel and talent have not been chosen yet. Sony picked up the rights for the film adaption in 2015. Previously, James Wan of Furious 7 and The Conjuring fame had been tipped to direct, but he is now committed to Aquaman.

Robotech was adapted from three original and unrelated Japanese anime TV series – Super Dimension Fortress MacrossSuper Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada.
