Meaningful Conversion
Jaguar F-Type SVR GT4 for Invictus Games Racing

Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division was recently commissioned to develop two bespoke F-TYPE SVR racing cars to GT4 specification, all for a good cause. Clothing brand Superdry’s co-founder James Holder has collaborated with the Invictus Games Foundation to launch Invictus Games Racing in order to compete in the 2018-19 British GT Championship. Invictus Games is an international sporting event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel, and the race team is the latest offshoot.

Holder himself is a motor racing enthusiast and took part in the 2016 British GT Championship. He has funded the project and has been involved in the development of the Jaguar F-Type SVR GT4. The original F-Type SVR was converted from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive, other key modifications include optimising the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine and fitting more aggressive brakes, wheels, tyres, suspension and transmission for competition use.

The 2018 British GT Championship starts on 31 March at Outlon Park. Four drivers from the British armed forces will be partnered and mentored by two professional drivers. Jason Wolfe will work with former RAF sergeant Ben Norfolk and Basil Rawlinson, former paratrooper and currently on the Jaguar Land Rover engineering team, in Car 22. Matthew George will mentor Car 44 driven by former marine major Steve McCulley and former marine commando Paul Vice, a below-knee amputee who went on to become the most successful male athlete at the 2016 Invictus Games with seven medals, including two golds.
