Luggage From The Future
RIMOWA x Daniel Arsham

Artist Daniel Arsham and his Future Relic art series is no stranger to us. For the series, the New Yorker  created his famous white sculptures of daily objects with the appearance of being excavated decades or even centuries from now. After turning things like Polaroid camera and Sony walkman into future relics, the artist has collaborated officially with RIMOWA to create a limited edition sculpture in a similar fashion.

The “eroded suitcase” art piece is based on a vintage version of the RIMOWA suitcase and is tarnished and turned completely white, as if it was discovered in the dystopian future. It comes with a pair of white gloves and a booklet like other Future Relic items, all encased inside a RIMOWA briefcase that you can actually use. Priced at US$ 2,200 (and HK$ 16,700 in Hong Kong), the limited edition art piece will be available on 17 May on Daniel Arsham’s website and in selected RIMOWA stores.

A one off version of the RIMOWA x Danish Arsham briefcase (edition 008/500) is now the subject of a Sotheby’s auction. The single lot features the signed artwork, signed drawing of the design, letter from Danish Arsham and special edition luggage sticker set, and is open for public bidding until 13 May.
