World’s First Private VTOL Jet
Lilium Electric Jet

The German startup “Lilium Aviation”  is developing the most advanced personal aircraft the world has ever seen. Founded by four aerospace engineers and product designers from the Technical University of Munich, and funded by the European Union, Lilium is ready to produce a private jet that could change not only the world’s aircraft industry and but also its entire air transportation infrastructure.

The Lilium jet will be the first private electric VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft in the world; it takes off and lands vertically, and fits comfortably in an area of 50 feet by 50 feet, allowing it to land on helipads. Thanks to its 320kW rechargeable battery-powered ducted fan engines, the aircraft has a top speed of 250mph and a range of 300 miles. The European Space Agency (ESA), supports the project, drawing public attention to the VTOL’s environmental benefits as well as the elimination of an airport infrastructure for operation.

Lilium believes their VTOL electric jet will be available to the public as early as 2018. Stay tuned for more info as the project continues.
