Leica Certified Dual-Lens
Huawei P9

While the rumours of the new generation iPhone 7 using dual lenses continue to circulate in the market; Huawei P9 has already pioneered and launched with the identical specification. More importantly, they co-engineered the P9 with Leica, crowning them as the second mobile phone ever after the Panasonic CM1, to have installed Leica camera lenses.  Along with receiving the Leica Summarit H 1:2.2/27 ASPH quality certification, each of the lenses has 12 million pixels and offers a 27mm wide angle lens with an f2.2 aperture.

Different from traditional dual-lenses mobile phones, the two lenses on the P9 are responsible for receiving various information;  one lens  captures red, green and blue wavelengths while the other receives monotone. When the two types of data are overlapped, the sharpness and the contrast of an image is greatly enhanced. On top of this, the phone has the ability to adjust the real-time depth of field after the image is made, by simulating a lens aperture between f0.95 to f/16 just like DSLR. Last but not least, P9 has been designed with special singular colour modes, so the user can easily shoot images in classic black and white or colour tones, capturing the fine detail which is distinctive of Leica product images. The mobile phone is fitted with a 5.2-inch 1,080p display and is supplied with the latest Kirin 955 2.5GHZ 64-bit processor, offering  3GB/ 4GB RAM, and 32GB/ 64GB internal storage. Matched with a 3, 000Ah battery capacity, the phone can handle shooting, internet surfing, gaming and other multimedia entertainment with ease. It is expected to be on sale in Hong Kong during the second quarter of 2016.
