Proving, yet again, that its “toys” are for adults as much as they are for children, LEGO has released another model that should thrill Ferrari fans and automotive enthusiasts alike. Inspired by the “original” supercar, the Danish company’s upcoming Ferrari F40 model is the latest from LEGO’s Creator Expert series and a stunning, miniaturized rendition of the 1987 classic.

Immaculately detailed despite its reincarnation in plastic brick form, the model mimics the F40’s sleek lines, rear spoiler and bright red bodywork, with pop-up headlights, iconic round taillights and the original’s triple exhaust all making appearances. Elsewhere, the car’s hood opens to reveal a luggage compartment that’s complete with tools, functional doors, red racing seats, steering wheel with prancing horse logo and rear hatch that showcases a removable, twin-turbocharged, 90-degree V8 engine. The details, according to LEGO, were developed in conjunction with Ferrari, resulting in a model that should amaze collectors as much as the original wowed drivers back in ‘87.
