Le Mans Speed Record Jag Offered
A 1954 Jaguar D-Type will be auctioned off at RM Sotheby's 2018 Arizona

A 1954 LeMans-heritage Jaguar D-Type is going up for sale at the RM Sotheby’s Arizona 2018 auction and is expected to fetch up to $15,000,000.

Although RM Sotheby’s hasn’t provided full details about the car, this D-Type has been a part of some of the most significant moments at Le Mans. Most notably, in 1954 the D-Type Jaguar had Sir Stirling Moss and Peter Walker behind the wheel, with the duo successfully setting a speed record of 172.97 mph on the legendary Mulsanne Straight. The car also has a wonderful history of runs at Goodwood, Oulton Park, Aintree, and Silverstone, as well as many more circuits throughout the 1950s.

The Jaguar D-Type has seen several modifications and restorations throughout the years. However, this one is believed to be one of the most original D-types in the world.
