Skoda ‘Kid Karoq’ cardboard car

As a kid, most people used cardboard to build things. Usually these cardboard toys are full of imagination and surreally crafted, but the Skoda ‘Kid Karoq’ shares the same dimensions as the real thing: 4.4 metres long and 1.6 metres tall.

Skoda commissioned British design studio Lazerian to create this 1:1 replica to celebrate the launch of brand’s new compact SUV. It took the team 600 hours in 10 weeks to bring it to life from scratch.  Skoda conducted a survey with 1,000 under-11s and asked them what features they would like to have inside their perfect car. The options with the highest scores all made it to the cardboard car. There is a tablet on board for kids to choose their own music and blast it via the wireless Canton speakers. Mini-motorists can also watch their favourite programmes from the projector via Wi-Fi, play games on the portable game console and dance under the multi-coloured disco ball. A slide and ball pit containing over 1,500 balls fill up the back of the cabin together with bean bags and a toy box. A secret den was created underneath the bonnet for kids to spy on the outside world through spy holes.
