Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10

Fujifilm has introduced its latest addition to the Instax series – the Square SQ10. The hybrid instant camera not only takes instant photos, but it also allows users to edit photos on the device before printing them. Rather than using the old rectangle film format like the Instax Wide and the Instax Mini, the SQ10 instead uses a new square format “Instax Square Film” in 1:1 aspect ratio to produce Polaroid-like photos with a nostalgic feel.

The SQ10 is the first Instax camera equipped with a ¼-inch CMOS sensor and image processing technology integrated with the existing Instax system. These technologies enhance the ability of the SQ10 to take brighter photos in low-light conditions. The hybrid instant camera also provides a wider range of custom functions including automatic exposure control, human detection, auto-focus, multiple exposure and bulb mode, just like many digital cameras. Another distinctive feature; the camera allows for the editing of photos via the LCD monitor by using various image processing functions and ten types of filters, as well as brightness adjustment, enabling users to personalise their photos before printing them out.

The new Instax has a microSD card slot so you can save your image files to an SD Card. If you want to keep things simple, you can always switch to automatic mode for shooting the original Instant camera way. Finally, the SQ10 charges via a micro-USB cable.

The Instax Square SQ10 will be available for purchase on May 19 for US $279.95, along with 10-packs of Instax Square film costing US $16.99, both are priced higher than the existing Instax series products. Before we get the camera in our hands, let’s take a look at the introductory video by the Fuji Guys below to understand how it works.
