Instant Photo Maker
Polaroid Lab

In the days of smartphone photography, anyone could have thousands of photos on their phone. While the images are always there, it doesn’t mean they are treasured. That’s why Polaroid Originals is launching the Polaroid Lab, a smartphone photo printer that works with the latest tech yet brings back the nostalgia of shooting with an instant camera.

Using the Polaroid Lab is simple. Just download the Polaroid Originals app on your phone and open the image via it, then place the phone at the top of Polaroid Lab, facing down. Upon pressing the red button the Polaroid Lab takes a snap of the phone screen using a combination of mirrors, light and Polaroid chemistry, and the instant photo will be ready after the usual development time.

While the concept is not brand new, it’s good that Polaroid Lab works with standard I-Type and 600 series films, so if you shoot with Polaroid physical cameras you can have a consistent collection of instant photos. The Polaroid Originals app doesn’t just make sure the instant photos come out nicely, but can also turn a single digital image into a printed collage, or add augmented reality features by linking the printed photo to a short video. Polaroid Lab is priced at HK$ 1,299 and will be available starting from 10 October.
