Omega Speedmaster “Speedy Tuesday”

Luxury brands are increasingly relying on their online platforms for sales and marketing. Following suit, Omega, for the very first time, is releasing a special edition Speedmaster solely available online. The idea behind the Speedmaster “Speedy Tuesday” limited edition also finds its origins in the online community. In 2012, Fratello Watches founder Robert-Jan Broer posted an image of his Speedmaster on social media with the caption “Speedy Tuesday”. Since then, Speedy Tuesday has become a regular topic for Broer as well as other watch enthusiasts, who have also been sharing their Speedmasters under the hashtag #SpeedyTuesday on Instagram.

The design of the Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday is inspired by some of Omega’s favourite models. The brushed matte-finish stainless steel case and large radial numerals on the sub dials stay true to the original design of the Speedmaster Alaska Project III created for NASA in 1978. The “Reverse Panda” dial, first seen in 1966 on a Speedmaster Professional, runs a vintage Omega logo and features luminescent markings and radial sub dials. The case back features Speedmaster’s iconic Seahorse medallion, special engraving of the name of the watch and the limited edition number, while inside there lies a classic calibre 1861 used in the Speedmaster Moonwatch. The brown leather strap has a vintage-cut, and the watch comes in a leather watch roll containing a spare black & white striped NATO strap and strap-changing tool.

The Speedy Tuesday can only be reserved on a specific page on the Omega website and delivery will be in the summer. Only 2012 models are produced and if available, customers can specify the limited edition number they want.
