Inspired By A Pound Coin
Bang & Olufsen BeoSound edge

At the recent IFA 2018 in Berlin, Danish electronics brand Bang & Olufsen launched its latest wireless speaker BeoSound Edge. Designed by London-based industrial designer Michael Anastassiades who’s best known for his lighting work, the speaker is inspired by the British pound coin and is thick enough to stand on its side. The stylish appearance is paired with advanced technologies. For example, as the user approaches the speaker, the touch sensitive aluminium interface would light up thanks to the proximity sensors. Rolling the speaker to the the sides can either turn up or down the volume. Once the desired volume is fixed, the speaker will roll back to its original position. The BeoSound Edge features a 10″ woofer, two 4″ midrange drivers and two ¾” tweeters. The acoustic analogy of the Active Bass Port, which is a new technology from Bang & Olufsen, is similar to that of a car’s spoiler: it uses the closed cabinet principle for the most accurate sound reproduction for lower volumes, while the Active Bass Port opens as the volume is turned up.

BeoSound Edge supports AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Bluetooth connection and can be mounted on the wall or stand on the floor. Expect to see it hit the stores  from late-November 2018.
