Nendo Paper Torch

Nendo never stops surprising us with its designs. Their latest work, Paper Torch, uses silver particle ink to print electronic circuits in a checker board pattern on both sides of a sheet of Yuko paper (used as electronic paper ballots for elections). One side has two button battery cells and seven LEDs with a conductive adhesive, and by just rolling the paper into a tube, you have a lamp. You can control the intensity of the light by the width of the rolled tube; the tighter the tube, the brighter the light. You can even choose between two types of colour temperature; rolling the tube in one direction gives off white light, and rolling the paper inside out produces a warm orange colour. While the paper torch primarily serves as a desk lamp, pendant lamp or a hand-held flash light, this clever design promises we’ll see a growing list of other applications in the future.
