Gilded In Gold
Diamond Atelier's 24k gold Ducati Monster 1200 R

Diamond Atelier from Munich just has no fear in creating unique motorcycles. Given a Ducati Monster 1200 R and an open brief from an existing customer from Frankfurt, the team decided to come up with something using 24k gold.

The fact that one of the staff worked as a trainee gilder prior to joining just pushed this idea further. As the Monster 1200 R already was a good-looking and powerful bike, Diamond Atelier kept most of the components while adding a new tailpiece made from 3D printing and complemented it with a cowhide leather seat and a custom-built subframe. Also new were a set of turn-signal and tail-light LEDs, Rizoma clutch and brake reservoirs, and a rear license plate holder and engine covers. The body was painted in olive green with decorative gold-leaf stripping, while the subframe received a layer of 24k gold. The result is still tastefully subtle with only part of the bike painted in gold, set off by the surrounding green elements.
