Renault Spider Revival concept

The Renault Spider was perhaps slightly too ahead of its time. Launched in 1996, less than 2,000 Spider units were produced through 1999 before its discontinuation. Of course, how a car is received commercially does not necessarily represent people’s perception of its design. Automobile and product designer Monholo Oumar remains a supporter, and he has shared his concept for bringing it back on Behance.

His reimagined Spider revival concept has a futuristic feel. The vehicle does not have a windscreen and is designed more for racing that public road-use. We can also see inspirations from the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo Concept as well as the Renault Sport R.S. 01. Its aggressive appearance is supported with striking LED headlights and taillights, an enlarged rear wing and a massive diffuser. With Renault working hard on developing a brand new sports car, we suggest they also consider Monholo Oumar’s Spider concept for a refreshing take on a Renault-branded racer.
