Furniture For The Moon
Studio Nucleo x Driade 'Moon Mission'

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, furniture brand Driade invited Italian writer and curator Gianluigi Ricuperati to imagine a new journey around time and space. Turin-based artist collective Studio Nucleo and its director Piergiorgio Robino selected four Driade masterpieces designed by Philippe Starck, Naoto Fukasawa and Enzo Mari, and recreated them as if they were made on the moon’s surface.

These pieces were produced in 3D printing using a material similar to regolith, the substance found on the lunar surface and composed of dust, soil and broken rock. An extraterrestrial installation, Moon Mission, was realised by the Institute of Production of Wonder and exhibited during Milan Design Week. Featuring live performance, film and audio inspired by the studies of the European Space Agency, the artists were trying to show the audience what chilling on the moon would be like, sitting on the first outdoor furniture collection for our biggest satellite.
