Playmobil has just launched a new partnership with Volkswagen with the release of signature models from the German marque. While LEGO kits usually work on staying true to the subject and being as authentic-looking as possible within the confines of the brick, the charm of Playmobil comes from a completely different angle.
The iconic Volkswagen T1 Camping Bus is one of the first models to be transformed into the world of Playmobil. Commanding a cult following, the T1 microbus was produced from 1950 to 1967, and Playmobil has selected a 1962 vintage for this collaboration. The exterior of the model van features the iconographic V-shaped front end with red and white colour scheme, plus the red VW logo. The rounded roof, split windshield and removable roof rack can also be found here. What’s great about this microbus playset is the details of the interior and the accessories it comes with. The cabin follows the 1960s vibe with check pattern upholstery, and is furnished with a sofa bed, a folding dining table, a sink, and a refrigerator. The doors of the van can be opened too, with a food shelf on one door and a vanity desk on the other. The playset also includes two Playmobil figures, ready for any adventure in this perfect little camper.
