Fu-Tro Fantasies
Automotive Designs by Jomar Machado

Brazil-based 3D designer Jomar Machado has created some stunning works that imagine how influential retro automotive designs would look in the future. In his latest series, Machado combines software like Mental Ray, HDR Light Studio, Photoshop and 3D Studio Max with his surreal yet nostalgic vision to blend futuristic deconstructionist fantasy with retro automotive metal to create his unique “Fu-Tro” icons.

His collection’s wonderfully offbeat results look like they belong in a sci-fi movie in sort of a “Mad Max Meets American Graffiti” way.

Machado has been dedicated to 3D design since the 1990s and spent 17 years at advertising agency JW Thompson in Rio de Janeiro, where he was responsible for storyboarding and creating layouts for prints. Initially, Machado would use traditional illustration tools like pencils, brushes and air brushes to develop his presentations and use his Commodore Amiga for his personal creations. When the company turned its traditional studio into the Computer Arts Department, Machado was one of the artists that led the change from brush to mouse.
