Frozen In Time
1990 Lancia Delta HF Usine

In the upcoming Automobiles in Drouot auction held by Leclere, a particular lot stands out from the 56 items being sold. It may not be the most luxurious car in the sale, but it can be said that it is as original as it can be. The Lancia Delta Group B race car here does not bear any obvious wearing, as it did not complete its first and last race.

Chassis number 459388 was set up for entering the 1989 Marlboro Safari Rally as the Number 3 car, with the team of drivers Jorge Recalde / Jorge Del Buono behind the wheel. It somehow had an extra layer rawness and off-road style as it was fitted Safari chassis, track protection and large bumper, all prepared for the African rally. The fact that it did not complete the race due to the failure of the near 2-litre engine before the finish line was unfortunate, but once the engine was fixed it was sold to its current owner, and the car just sat in the garage in the original condition. It will probably need some check up or servicing for restarting, but it authenticity and the originality means that it should be rode around instead of hiding it. The auction will take place on in Paris on 21 October.
