The idea of flying more or less gives off a fresh feeling of escapism, and in the eyes of German design company bordbar, they find the practical side of it more attracting. From thinking about how to preserve functionalities to changing them into useful personal belongings, they are passionate about different transformations. For example, they started recycling aircraft dining carts during 2006 and started manually repairing and refurbishing them into storage lockers. Using several hours to polish, smooth and coat the product with wear-resistant materials on top, they finally decided to start their own business after they finished their 287th dining cart.

Other than using recycled materials, they also use all new materials to produce products, such as this red dot design award winning aluminum metal locker Silver Edition. Made in the Cologne studio, each product is engraved with an individual number. It can be configured freely to contain up to 14 different compartments, including file holders, coffee capsules shelf, cutlery trays, and even to having a cutting board on the very top. There is a red and green pedal on the bottom to make the cart stop and move. Revealing LED lights from the glass door, a visual charm is added which makes it a lovely choice for the office and the home. It also offers customizing services to guests, allowing them to completely personalize the outer appearance as well as its interior so that it can meet any crazy preferences. The brand keeps the cold touch of the unique flight equipment and includes a rational German design which leans towards the needs of people. For a retired aircraft, this is kind of a continuation of its life.
