Last month, rumours began circulating about a new series of Formula 1 driver helmet LEGO sets. Those whispers quickly turned into reality during media day at the opening round of the season, when Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were spotted carrying life-size LEGO brick-built helmets around the paddock at the Australian Grand Prix.
The two helmets were far more than simple props. Each was constructed from more than 3,500 LEGO elements and weighs close to 3 kg. Every helmet required around 60 hours to build and was designed and assembled by LEGO Certified Professional Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught and his team. The appearance of the full-scale creations also served as the perfect stage for LEGO to unveil two new display sets that fans can actually own. They may not be quite as complex as the paddock versions, but they remain highly detailed and collectable.
The LEGO Editions Scuderia Ferrari HP Charles Leclerc Helmet faithfully recreates the Monegasque driver’s race helmet. Key details include Leclerc’s driver number 16, the Scuderia’s iconic prancing horse and subtle tributes to both his late father and the late Jules Bianchi. The 886-piece set also features a printed display plaque with Leclerc’s signature and, for the first time, a LEGO minifigure representing the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix winner.
Fans of Lewis Hamilton are equally well catered for. The LEGO Editions Scuderia Ferrari HP Lewis Hamilton Helmet captures the seven-time world champion’s distinctive design in yellow, complete with printed graphics and his famous driver number 44. The 884-piece display set also includes a signature plaque and introduces a Lewis Hamilton minifigure wearing his red Ferrari racing suit.
Both helmets measure over 18 cm high, 13 cm deep, and 11 cm wide, making them ideal display pieces for motorsport enthusiasts. The sets will be available from 1 May via the LEGO website and LEGO stores worldwide, with pre-orders already open.
