Den Hartogh Museum’s whole collection of Ford vehicles to be auctioned

Piet den Hartogh was a lifelong Ford collector. Over the years he has had more than 200 Ford and Lincoln cars and more than 50 motorcycles, as he worked on getting an example of every single Ford model including the oldest ones and those developed for commercial use. His whole collection will soon be auctioned by Bonhams.

Piet founded and curated the Den Hartogh Museum in Hillegom, just outside Amsterdam for sharing his passion with other Ford enthusiasts in 1997. His family took over and continued to run it for years, but they have decided to close it down due to the attention and dedication required for maintaining such a magnificent collection.

What is so special about this auction is that it does not just cover the well known vintage models such as Ford Models A, B and C. Rarities including ice cream vans, ambulances, fire engines and even a Canadian police-issue snowmobile are also up for sale without reserve. Details of the lots will be revealed towards the auction date 23 June.
