While the most important function of a shelf is storage or display, it is impossible not to notice if its one of the few things that hang on your wall. Danish brand Ferm Living has collaborated with designer Mario Tsai to create the ‘Flying Shelf’ collection, designed to seemingly float freely on a wall without any visible attachment.

The set contains two shelves. One is composed of a piece of thin metal, a sphere and a tiny cylinder; while the two latter elements play a significant role in balancing the whole construction, they also reinforce the minimal and elegant design’s expression of ‘flying’. The second shelf also makes use of a thin metal surface but partnered with two small cylinders.

Whether you have the most elegantly presented home or one designed with a minimum of elements, installing this collection on your wall will reinforce your design character.
