When it comes to appreciating the nature, it’s essential to be able to get as close to it as possible yet without disturbing its originality. The Heart Reef at The Whitsundays region of the Great Barrier Reef is famous for its romantic shape. With the recently opened Heart Island, visitors can experience the Heart Reef in a brand new way.
The Heart Island is a private floating pontoon built by Hamilton Island. With over a decade of development and two million dollars of investment, the wind and solar energy-powered eco pontoon is only accessible by helicopter and houses up to six guests plus a host each time. The experience starts with a 30-minute helicopter ride so guests can see Heart Reef and other renowned sceneries such as Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet from above. Upon arriving the Heart Island, visitors can explore the nearby region in a glass-bottom boat tour, or swim or snorkel in the beautiful ocean. If you prefer to stay indoor, there’s also an undercover pool inside the pontoon, or simply relax with a couple of drinks on the pontoon while looking out at the breathtaking views.
