Floating On The Desk
MB&F Medusa

MB&F has once again teamed up with Switzerland’s clockmaker L’Epée 1839 for their art-like mechanical timepiece collaboration. Medusa is the tenth project between the two, and this time around they have created a jellyfish looking dual-configuration clock.

The transparent body of Medusa is formed by hand-blown Murano glass in either green, blue, or pink. MB&F contacted 40 companies for this delicate yet important task, only four companies came back to them, and only one could pass the requirement. The movement was newly crafted from scratch with consideration on weight and the fragile glass exterior, as well as to resemble the internal neural network of jellyfish. It can be winded with single hand, allowing the other hand being available to stabilise the clock. There are two rotating rings visible through the dome — one displaying the hours and the other displaying the minutes. The markings are coated with glow-in-the-dark Super-LumiNova, just like a real jellyfish.

Medusa can be ceiling mounted with the buckle located at the top of the movement. Glass tentacles can be hung on the movement in this configuration. The clock can also stand on a desk with the metal base.
