4K Projection Perfection
JVC DLA-Z1

During last year’s Rio Olympics, the Japanese audio-visual specialists JVC partnered with NHK to demonstrate the 8K pilot broadcast all over Japan with its native 8K laser projector. As for its flagship projector DLA-Z1, JVC has brought 4K projection to another level with the introduction of native 4K D-ILA (Direct-Drive Image Light Amplifier).

Supporting both the latest HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma, the key to the DLA-Z1 projector is the three 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices – currently the smallest 4K device in the world. The resolution of each device is 4096×2160, and the pixel gap has been narrowed by 31% against former devices to 3.8 μm, while the aperture ratio has been increased to 91%. With the use of both vertical orientation technology and planarization technique, unnecessary scattering and diffraction of light has been decreased for the best image quality even when zooming in. The new laser light source “Blu-Escent” has six built-in laser units and each with eight laser diodes, delivering high brightness of 3,000 lm and a 20,000 hour lifespan. For a higher level of image quality, JVC has also developed a dedicated lens together with the 4K D-ILA devices. The lens on DLA-Z1 features a new 16-group 18-sheet all glass lens and full aluminium lens barrel. Its 100mm diameter and F2.6 aperture results in excellent optical performance as they use light much more efficiently and deliver precise and consistent projection of 4K resolution graphics. With such an outstanding list of specifications, no wonder DLA-Z1 has passed more than 400 image quality tests and is the only projector in the world with THX 4K Display Certification.
