Aston Martin DBX SUV prototype testing

Aston Martin has confirmed its upcoming SUV will named DBX, and will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2019. Prototype testing has just commenced with DBX challenging Welsh Rally stage.

Driven by the company’s chief engineer, Matt Becker, in the video we see the DBX prototype in camouflage drifting and sliding over the smooth Welsh Rally stage. The initial testing location is selected in tribute to Aston Martins’ new St Athan production facility in the Vale of Glamorgan. From then the testing programme will be extended to various hostile driving environments, including frozen Arctic, Middle East deserts, Alpine passes, German autobahnen and the notorious Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Being the marque’s first SUV, “DBX is a very different kind of Aston Martin, but we will be testing it in all conditions and across all terrains to ensure it delivers a driving experience worthy of the wings badge,” said Matt Becker. The company’s president and group CEO Andy Palmer also said that “DBX is so much more than ‘just’ an SUV” since it will be the first model built at the new facility in St Athan, signifying the start of a bold new era in the company’s long history. Plenty of teasers can be expected from now until the launch.
