Nissan named featured marque at Monterey Motorsports Reunion

Held annually during Monterey Car Week in August, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (RMMR) is one of the highlights alongside the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and numerous classic car auctions. Since the event began in 1974, it has honoured a variety of legendary marques in racing history. For this year, Nissan is selected as the feature marque, making it the first Japanese car company being celebrated with this honour.

During 23-26 August, over 50 Nissan/Datsun race cars will compete on the Laguna Seca track for the RMMR, including IMSA champion Steve Millen in his Daytona and Le Mans-winning Nissan 300ZX Turbo, the BRE Datsun 240Z, and the SCCA National GT-1 Championship 300ZX Turbo originally raced by Paul Newman. The automaker will also display 14 cars during the event, ranging from iconic classics such as the 1969 Japan Grand Prix winning Nissan R382, the original BRE Datsun 510 to the one-off Nissan R390 GT1 road car. The display is not just about glorious day in racing, as the latest limited run Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign, 2018 Leaf electric car and the new Formula E race car will also make a presence.
