Feel The Breeze
McLaren 600LT Spider

Ever since the very first McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ in 1997, another Longtail model was released, making it the fifth model released by automotive company. The 600LT Spider shares plenty of the similar track-focused elements with the 600LT Coupe with an extra breeze.

Highlight of this vehicle – the Spider is only 50 kg more than the coupe and at 1,297 kg lightest, thanks to the carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis that requires no reinforcement. The extra weight comes from the three-piece, powered retractable hardtop roof that can be lowered or raised at speeds of up to 40 km/h.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine on the Spider generates the same 592 bhp and 620 Nm as in the coupe. It allows the droptop to offer an identical 0-100 km/h acceleration at 2.9 seconds. 0-200 km/h is achieved in 0.2 seconds slower, but still impressive at 8.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 324 km/h with the roof raised, which is just 4 km/h less than the hardtop, and  315 km/h with the roof lowered.

The top-exit exhausts introduced with 600LT Coupe are retained, and with the open roof  brings extra aural enjoyment. There is an electrically-operated, glazed wind deflector behind the seats for allowing more air (and the exhaust sound) into the cabin.
